Its to be a day of packing and wrapping up many details before heading out to the Teaneck Marriott tonight for the 2013 Guild Show. There will be a day to get organized before classes start on Thursday, August 1, along with many other festivities….the trip to Broadway to see “Motown-the Musical”, the shopping foray into the heart of the garment district to explore fabric and trim stores, the Gathering of the Guild Friday evening before the show to enjoy the bountiful dessert buffet (Free!) and demonstrations by a number of artists/experts. Its looking like it will be another wonderful, fun-filled, show weekend.

I am very much looking forward to shopping with some of the very talented artists that will be there this year, people I pretty much only see at the Guild Show once a year. I’ve been checking out their websites so I have an idea of what they will have for sale and I can’t wait! As I am also a dealer, I don’t often have time to shop, but I’m sharing a table this year and so sharing the responsibility of manning it with others and thus anticipating some free time.

There are a couple of unique features at the Guild Show, besides the events mentioned above, things geared for families and children, in particular, hoping to help excite the next generation of miniaturists. Small Beginnings is a sales area set aside for the younger collector with pieces priced for their budgets. On Sunday there is also a tea for the youngsters and their adult family member, with a special make and take project just for them.

So many fun events on the agenda-but perhaps the most fun, getting to see my mini friends from across the continent, share new ideas, projects underway and those yet to begin, and the many special finds I expect to discover in the sales room. See you there!
