In this class you will learn the original Japanese method of weaving baskets from the finest wire. The baskets from this material are perfect in shape, pleasant in weight and very resistant to time and exposure. The basket for the class was chosen with special attention. It has a universal oval shape and will fit in any interior. And the original schemes on which it is woven will make this unique in your collection. Coloring style is your choice.

The theoretical part will include a description of the material and methods of its toning. Moving on to weaving, you will learn 5 weaving schemes, several methods of fixing the handle, the principle of calculating the material and guides for different types of baskets and all the secrets of miniature weaving. For a particular item you will receive the author's shape for weaving, but you will also learn how you can make a shape yourself for your future baskets. Besides a new skill, you'll really enjoy the class, as weaving is a true meditation.

It is likely that this project will be completed by end of the GVL sessions if students work overtime on their own outside of class.

MAXIMUM NUMBER OF STUDENTS: 12

SKILL LEVEL: This class is suitable for beginners and Intermediate. Students should be attentive, methodical and calm. Provide a workplace with good lighting, magnification if needed and well-developed fine motor skills and patience.

No power tools are required for this class. Students should have their own scissors, tweezers, glue, watercolors and brush for this class. The instructor will reach out to students with tool list details.

PROJECT: Soldering a Candle Holder

Anna will teach you the skills needed to create a brass candle holder. This candle holder looks elegant and stylish and will suit both classic Victorian dollhouses and more modern interiors. It can be placed on a dining room table or entryway table, as well as decorate a fireplace. The candle holder measures 46 x 15 x 8mm. It is an exact 1:12 scale replica of the original model.

In this class you will learn soldering techniques using a jewelry soldering iron, as well as an introduction to hand torch techniques, how to solder flat elements and how to assemble a 3D object. For this class you will be provided with the author’s molds to simplify the process of assembling, fixing and soldering the product. You’ll also receive an introduction to the techniques used by jewelry makers so that you can further assemble and solder your own designs. The material to work on in this class is brass and you will learn how to properly post- process the piece.

A soldering iron will be needed for this class. The instructor will send out the recommended models of irons, tools and supplies via email after registration.

SKILL LEVEL: Beginner and Intermediate. Students will need to be attentive and patient with well-developed fine motor skills. Well-lit workplace and protective surface covering. Good eyesight with magnification if necessary.

Led by Anna, an experienced miniature artist, teacher and IGMA Artisan, this engaging online class will help participants create a realistic, colorful miniature succulent composition from air dry clay. The lessons combine clear technical instruction with a creative approach to composition, so that at the end of the class, each student will have a display-ready miniature that looks like a 'living' composition.

Anna demonstrates the entire process step by step in real time via Zoom - from preparing and mixing colors to texturing, planting and finishing - and offers individual advice on troubleshooting and composing during the live sessions. Recordings are provided after the class so that students can practice at their own pace.

An original 3D greenhouse will be used as the base for the arrangement. It will feature several sculptural succulents and finishing touches (accents made from natural materials.) Aur dry clay and original molds will be used to create the succulents. Sculptural tools will be used to add shape and texture. Watercolor tinting techniques are also included.

Finished size approximately 22 x 46 mm - perfect for 1:12 scale dollhouses.

In this unique online class, miniature artist Anna introduces students to one of the most original and versatile materials currently used in miniature art: UV resin. Known for its glass-like transparency and durability, UV reason allows artists to create stunning transparent elements, glass effects, and modern sculptural details that take miniature works to a new level.

Working step by step in real time, Anna helps participants create a stylish contemporary floral arrangement, combining delicate wire frames with translucent petals and resin details. Participants will also work with wire in a sculptural sense- shaping, layering and manipulating light effects- to achieve a truly contemporary aesthetic. Finished product size: approximately 2-3 cm high, 1:12 scale for dollhouses.

As a bonus, each participant will receive one of Anna’s original vases, made from UV reason, specially designed to showcase the finished miniature arrangement.

PROJECT: Sculpting an Elegant Vase or Pot/Planter on a Mini Wheel using Air Dry Clay

Lynette will teach you the basic skills needed to sculpt an elegant vase or a pot/planter on a mini wheel. All pieces will be 1:12 scale. All tools and clay are supplied for the class. Wheels can be purchased through the teacher. Air-dry clay is used, so no kiln is needed for this class. Previous experience throwing pots or using a mini wheel is not needed. All basic skills will be demonstrated and thoroughly explained.

The project for the class will be a Vase, elegant or simple, your choice, that will hold mini flowers. Or it can be a relatively large pot or Planter which will hold lots of plants, vines, or flowers. Contents you can learn how to make in another class. The finished projects will be about one inch tall. Variation of style is encouraged.

Techniques taught will be centering, opening, shaping, bellying, finishing and flourishes. It is expected that students will complete the project (and possibly several more) in the allotted time. All materials for completing the class will be sent in the materials package. It will include - 4 ounces of WED air dry clay and several new tools which will be used to make vases or pots.

Each student must have a mini wheel for class. These can be ordered through the instructor, if you wish. The cost for a mini wheel, including delivery, is $45 USD. Please let the instructor know you would like her to order one for you

GVL Details and Information

Each class has a class fee and a materials fee which cover the instructor's costs. An administrative fee which covers GVL expenses and program implementation goes to IGMA. These expenses will be included in your registration fee.

IGMA handles the registration only. You may be contacted by your instructor with the list of class materials or pre-class information.

**Cancellations before the date listed above in each class description will receive a refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be issued after this date as instructors will have begun shipping materials. If you are registered for a class and can not make it to the class on the event dates you will still have access to the class recordings.
