Just a few short weeks until the fun begins in Teaneck, New Jersey with the annual International Guild of Miniature Artisans 2013 Show and Sale. If you can get there by plane, train or automobile, start planning your trip because there is an agenda full of excitement in store for you.

Classes are in session on Thursday and Friday, August 1 and 2. Registrations have been coming in steadily and some classes are already sold out. Many excellent choices still have room, though, and there is also still room for a few more shoppers to join the trip  to the garment district in New York City Friday afternoon to explore the fabric, trimmings and bead stores.

Friday night The Gathering of the Guild kicks off the weekend’s  festivities. Get an early supper, then join us for Desserts and Demonstrations in the Grand Lobby from 7 to 9 p.m. We’ve got 11 artists lined up to demonstrate their skills in areas ranging from woodworking and painting, to textile techniques and many more, and we’ve got desserts by the table full! Yummy chocolate fueled and cheesecake inspired treats to cap a perfect evening, as well as some less caloric options for those so motivated.

The IGMA membership table will be open at registration if you are not yet a member but would like to join. Members can take advantage of free admission to the show, reduced class fees and the one hour members only advance entry to the show Saturday morning.

Sunday afternoon Mini’s and Tea with Mommy and Me will provide a special treat for miniaturists ages 6-14,  a make and take project designed particularly for them served with cookies and tea or lemonade. When you finish the project, be sure to come on into the show and visit the Small Beginnings where the merchandise is specially selected and priced just for the smaller budget, too.
