Two Hepplewhite Chairs and a Stool
This furniture style is Hepplewhite and was made in the last half of the 18th Century. There are two chairs and a footstool, and can be placed in a grouping in a room. As an interesting alternative, they can be put end-to-end to create a chaise. This arrangement was very popular in their time.
All three pieces are made out of cherry wood. Students will be given the three pieces unfinished. They will be able to put the finish of their choice on them. Then they will apply a stain, paint, or gilded finish; or just leave them plain cherry wood. The final step is to upholster these curved pieces of furniture.
