COURSE:

The Art of Motion

PROJECT:

Dressing a Porcelain Girl Jumping Rope

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

In this class students will learn to costume and pose a darling little girl jumping rope. Students will be able to customize the figure by choosing fabrics to reflect their own personal taste. A selection of various hairstyles and colors will give their figure its own personality. Students will learn to construct all clothes, leather shoes, and wigging the figure. Then the excitement of dressing the little girl begins while watching their customized figure emerge. Finally, students will learn the techniques used that make the little girl look like she’s hanging in mid-air by her jump rope, hair and clothes flying, giving her the look and feel of motion.

Due to time constraints, each student will need to decide which doll from the two pictured (modern or old fashioned) that they would like to dress during the class. Patterns for both will be provided to each student. There will be various demonstrations provided throughout
