Congratulations to Three Guild Show Dealers

The Guild held Artisan and Fellow evaluations last weekend and we are very proud to announce that among the group of new Artisan and Fellow members we have three who will be dealers at the IGMA Show August 3rd and 4th, and two of them are offering classes prior to the show!

Jeannie Lindquist, who is not only a dealer but is offering a class at the show, received her Artisan in plants and flowers. Her submission showed very detail oriented work with 1/12 scale horticulture. Each plant was very delicately colored with specific attention paid to the proportionate scale of leaves and buds as well as the flowers and their varied petal shapes and arrangements.

Barbara Vajnar received her Artisan in furniture with a speciality in country styles and finishes. Barbara, under the name Bubba’s Country Cupboards, has become well known at miniature shows for her selection of handmade country furniture. Her work shows her love for and understanding of the subtle colors and finishes that one expects to find on aged, rustic style pieces.

Phyllis Hawkes, who first found recognition for her amazingly detailed painted signs, was elevated to Artisan member several years ago, and last weekend was elevated once more to the level of Fellow member. Her submission of four paintings in various styles and her interpretation of an historic pub sign,  demonstrated her mastery of  technique and control. Phyllis will also be a dealer at the Guild Show in August. Phyllis will also be teaching a painting class prior to the show, selecting a folk painting by Rufus Porter as her subject matter.
