For the last few years a highlight of the Guild Show weekend is the unveiling of the new Guild School catalog. Up until that point, eager students have to make do with a bare-bones listing of the classes for the upcoming school year. It doesn’t completely prevent them from picking out their favorites, but it does slow it down some. Then you get that catalog in your hot little hands and the deliberations

become much more intense. Are you going to go for a woodworking class this year, or take a few textile classes? There are always more interesting choices than your schedule will permit, so the process of narrowing it down to first, second and third choices begins.

There will be several first time teachers there this year, including Miyuki Kobayashi from Japan, the talented artist behind the aquatic scene in the previous blog post. Sue Veeder and Fran Sussman will also be teaching at Guild School for the first time. The photos of each class project and all the necessary information is now posted on line and catalogs are available from the Guild Office and will be at the Philadelphia Miniaturia next month if you weren’t able to pick one up at the Guild Show.
