IGMA at the Philadelphia Miniaturia

An important component of the Philadelphia Miniaturia show is the fundraising auction they host each year. The auctions benefit the world of miniatures, organizations that support the hobby and museums that display miniatures. This year the beneficiary of the auction is the IGMA.

The primary mission of the International Guild of Miniature Artisans is to promote fine miniatures as art form and that is done in several ways, the most important of which is through education. IGMA hosts weekend study programs in many locations and each June we host a week of intense schooling in Castine, Maine where novice, and not so novice miniaturists alike, are welcome to come to advance their skills and their knowledge of miniatures. You don’t even have to be a member of IGMA to participate in these educational programs.

The IGMA Auction Committee has been diligently soliciting and collecting wonderful pieces from generous artists and collectors. We greatly appreciate those who have given in support of the Guild’s efforts and YOU will be the beneficiary of their generosity! The Guild will be hosting silent auctions both Saturday and Sunday, with a live auction Sunday morning at the Philadelphia Miniaturia next weekend. There will be things for every price range, some from internationally recognized names and special items from artists you may just be discovering.

It is not too late if you wish to donate something in support of IGMA. The donation form is on the Miniaturia website, and you will find IGMA representatives in the show lobby very willing and happy to receive your donation. The Guild will also be extremely happy to see you come and bid at the auctions, support on either, or both, sides of the table are very much appreciated.

And should the idea of such wonders up for auction not be temptation enough, let me also mention…free bagels and coffee will be available to the attendees of the Sunday morning live auction!
